SWIM Leaders Strive for Social Justice at NAMM Panel

On Sept. 24, 2020, leaders of Smart Women in Music (SWIM) convened in partnership with the NAMM Foundation and other industry changemakers for an educational and eye-opening seminar entitled, “Music and Social Justice: What Should We Be Doing?” Hosted by Mary Luerhsen, Executive Director of the NAMM Foundation, the informative panel discussion honed in on necessary opportunities for greater diversity and equity in MI, and featured breakout sessions where participants engaged in actionable dialogue on important DEI topics.

Guest speakers included Habib Babko, Director of Community Building at Independent Sector, as well as key participants in this year’s inaugural SWIM summit: DeDe Heid, Executive Vice President of Heid Music; Kit Culpepper, Director of Channel Strategy at C.F. Martin & Co.; and Lisa Steele-MacDonald, Director of Marketing at Yamaha Corporation of America.
