Meet our final “SWIM Masters” guest of 2020, Crystal Morris. The Gator Cases founder, owner and president—and co-founder of SWIM—talks mentorship with our hosts, and steering the next generation of MI leaders.
Crystal Morris is the Founder, President and Owner of Gator Co., a global leading manufacturer serving the music, pro-audio, AV, event, utility and creative industries. Comprised of a family of brands – Gator Cases, Gator Frameworks, Levy’s, Gator Rackworks and Gator OEM Solutions – Gator designs product solutions that protect and perform so customers can focus on their passions in the studio, on the stage, on tour, in their home or at work.
Morris started Gator with her father in 2000 with five products and has grown the business to over 1500 products, including the 2018 acquisition of Canadian brand Levy’s, an iconic guitar strap company that started in 1973.
Gator has received dozens of awards, including Best in Show, from trade associations and media. Morris was recognized by the Women’s International Music Network as an Enterprise She Rocks Award recipient and one of the Top Female Makers in the Music Industry.
In 2019, Morris won the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Florida, which recognizes entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies who excel in innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, while also transforming the world.
Morris served on the board for the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and is an active member of the NAMM delegation advocating for more music education in our communities. She co-founded the Smart Women in Music (SWIM) Fund which supports and develops women in the music industry as leaders. She is a certified member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and YPO, a global leadership community of chief executives.
